On a Heartstart course you will learn vital lifesaving skills. Emergency life support (ELS) is a set of simple techniques that can keep a person alive until professional help arrives.

This includes:

  • General care of a casualty including procedures for obtaining help
  • dealing with an unconscious person who is breathing
  • dealing with a suspected heart attack casualty
  • giving rescue breathing
  • performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • dealing with choking
  • dealing with serious bleeding

Courses require no special medical skills -
all the classes are free and only take two hours

  • The classes are suitable for adults and for children over 10 years of age.
  • All attendees receive a certificate of attendance
  • Heartstart UK classes strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the Resuscitation Council (UK).
